About

Lisa is somewhat of a Jack (Jill?) of all Trades: nonprofit leader, curator, librarian, archivist, independent designer, professor, home-brewer, artist.

Lisa has a master’s degree in Museum Studies from Syracuse University (Syracuse, NY) where she learned to create exhibits that communicate ideas through strong design. With undergraduate degrees in Sociology/Anthropology and Art she understands the intersection of people and design. In 2011, she interned at the Sitka Historical Society (Sitka, AK)—a small community museum—and fell in love with community impact projects.

She has conducted several research trips to Sweden and published in the Journal of the Society of Georgia Archivists, Sverigekontakt, and for the Augustana Historical Society. She has received grants from the NEH, ISHRAB, and Swedish Institute (Stockholm, Sweden). In 2018, she received the Swedish Council of America’s Award of Merit.

In her spare time, Lisa designs book covers and websites for friends. She also redesigned library databases after realizing the structure was causing frustrations for researchers. She firmly believes the user/patron is central to any design solution and seeks ways to create a better experiences for patrons, visitors, and the community.

As Assistant Professor at Augustana College (Rock Island, IL), Lisa teaches Introduction to Museum Studies and enjoys mentoring undergraduate students. She also gives guest lectures at museums and organizations across the country and serves as a consultant for two small museums in rural Illinois.
